Oliver Cabell is a luxury footwear brand that has made waves in the industry with its unique and most importantly, honest approach to crafting shoes. When I got the opportunity to partner with them, we set out to make something truly special.
Scott and I have been in communication with each other since 2017, consistently exhibiting an appreciation for each other's craft and talent. After considering several different ideas in the past leading up to this collaboration, we finally landed on one that we both felt had the potential to stand the test of time and connect with our respective communities. Our objective was to produce something that would have a timeless appeal with unmatched quality. I'm proud to say that we exceeded my expectations.
The resulting collaboration is the trashhand x Oliver Cabell shoe, a stunning piece of footwear that is a must-have for anyone who loves high-quality design, premium materials, and my unique perspective. This shoe is a true reflection of my love for dilapidation and Oliver Cabell's commitment to making luxury accessible.
Right away looking at the shoe, it features this cinder block / cement color design that is both rugged and stylish, taking inspiration from paint falling off the walls creating a distressed look that will make a standout piece in any collection. I’ve always loved the way paint begins to chip away off walls when exploring abandoned spaces. We also added the foam for the tongue of the shoe to increase that feeling of distress. Logo’s were kept at a minimum for those who appreciate quality over over-the-top branding - this collaboration focuses on creating an exceptional shoe and color-way that speak for itself!
The trashhand x Oliver Cabell shoe is constructed using stitched and lasted techniques in Marche, Italy, ensuring that each shoe is made with precision and care. The upper is made from 3oz full-grain calfskin leather and mohawk suede, sourced again from Marche, Italy, with each hide having a different effect and may vary from images shown. Each shoe is going to feel like a 1/1 because no two look exactly the same. The outsole is made from Margom Italian outsoles, renowned for their durable, lightweight rubber, while the footbed is Italian calf-skin over a removable molded insole. The lining is Italian calfskin leather, and the counters are 3oz full-grain calfskin leather, also from Marche, Italy. Finally, the laces are made from Italian cotton, completing the premium feel of the shoe.
